Description
Cress Aquila, is a succulent with attractive, symmetrical rosettes that attract attention with intense leaf colors. The colors of the leaves change depending on the season, going from green to shades of pink and purple. The plant does well in sunny positions, where its colors gain intensity. It prefers permeable and rocky soils, making it an ideal choice for rockeries, gravel gardens and containers. Thanks to its high frost resistance, ‘Aquila’ is perfect for gardens in colder climate zones. In addition, its low water and fertilizer requirements make care extremely easy. Flowering takes place in summer, when the plant bears showy pink-purple flowers on tall stems.
Cultivation and care:
Position: it should be grown in sunny positions, which provide intensive growth and distinctive rosette color. Shaded places may cause loss of color and weakened growth.
Soil: it grows best in permeable soil with a rocky or sandy texture, which prevents waterlogging. It is worth avoiding clay substrates, which can lead to root rot.
Water: Sempervivum ‘Aquila’ requires minimal watering, especially during dry periods. Excess moisture can harm the plant, so watering should be moderate.
Fertilization: the plant has very low fertilizer requirements and does well in poor soils. You can apply succulent fertilizer once a season to promote its growth.
Pruning: it does not require regular pruning, but it is worth removing blooms and dead rosettes. This keeps the plant aesthetically pleasing and healthy.
Protection from frost: the plant shows high frost resistance and does not require additional protection in winter. In very harsh conditions, a layer of mulch can be applied.
Diseases and pests: it is rarely attacked by diseases or pests, making it easy to grow. However, it is worth avoiding excess moisture to prevent rosette base rot.
